Use and antenna gain

A screw-on, dual-band outdoor antenna for compatible Wi-Fi radios. The current manufacturer specification gives 3.6 dBi gain at 2.4 GHz and up to 6.7 dBi at 5 GHz. Its omnidirectional pattern is useful when coverage is needed around the installation point rather than aimed at a single distant endpoint.

Compatibility and installation

Check both the radio frequency range and connector before purchase. The antenna has an RP-SMA male connector and requires a matching RP-SMA connection; standard SMA and RP-SMA are not interchangeable. MikroTik specifically describes using two HGO-antenna-OUT antennas with NetMetal ax. For that setup, plan for two antennas and the separate radio; one antenna does not provide a complete two-antenna installation.

What to expect

This is a passive antenna, not a router, access point or standalone Wi-Fi extender. It needs a compatible radio. Gain figures do not guarantee a coverage distance or Internet speed: placement, obstructions, the radio and the client device all affect the result.
