Battery backup for a compact IT rack

The APC Smart-UPS C SMC2000I-2U provides backup power for compatible servers, storage systems and networking equipment. Its 2000 VA / 1300 W capacity suits a carefully sized group of devices, while the 2U rackmount enclosure keeps the UPS alongside the equipment it supplies. Nominal input and output voltage is 230 V.

Voltage regulation and clear status information

This line-interactive model combines automatic voltage regulation (AVR) with pure sine-wave output. AVR corrects voltage fluctuations within its operating range, helping avoid unnecessary battery discharge. The graphic LCD gives access to operating information at the front panel. USB and serial interfaces support local communication with compatible equipment and software, and the UPS automatically detects 50/60 Hz input frequency.

Match the IEC connectors and cable ratings to your equipment before installation. The six outlets share the UPS’s total capacity: keep the combined load within both 2000 VA and 1300 W, as well as the ratings of individual outlets and cables. Plan headroom for equipment start-up and future additions.

Dimensions, placement and runtime

The enclosure measures 89 × 480 × 470 mm (H × W × D) and weighs 26.2 kg with the battery. Check your cabinet’s usable depth and load capacity, leaving space for rear connections and airflow. The specified operating temperature is 0–40 °C.

Actual battery runtime depends on the load, charge level, battery condition and temperature. Size the connected equipment around the time needed for a controlled shutdown or a short power interruption. A higher connected load generally leaves less backup time, so the power rating should not be read as a runtime guarantee.
